“Even more exciting are the proposed contents of the Museum, a rich repository of art and artefacts tracing the evolution of Muslim culture through the ages. It will be a grand destination for Muslim visitors from across Canada and around the world, and it will introduce Canadians from other faith and cultural backgrounds to the compelling history of Islam, one of the world’s great religions and the inspiration for countless major advancements in art, science, music and philosophy."(Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Foundation Ceremony of the Aga Khan Museum, Ismaili Center and their Park, Toronto, Canada, May 28 2010)

WHITEHORSE - Individuals, not communities, are to blame for homegrown terrorism, according to the prime minister.
Stephen Harper addressed the recent Ottawa and London, Ont., terrorism arrests Friday, saying he doesn't believe they will inflame racial or ethnic tensions.
"Well, let's be very clear: These are not the acts of a community. The vast majority of the people from this community, like the vast majority of all Canadians, want absolutely nothing to do with this and expect the government to vigorously pursue, and expect our police and security forces to vigorously pursue, anybody who dabbles in criminal, or worse, terrorist activity," Harper said.
"Often, members of these communities help provide information to pursue these kinds of cases."
Three men - two in Ottawa and one in London - were arrested earlier this week and charged with various terrorism offences, including plotting to make explosive devices and supporting terrorist cells in Afghanistan to attack Canadian troops.
The RCMP moved in to make the arrests Wednesday and Thursday when intelligence suggested one of the men was preparing to travel to the Middle East. According to RCMP officials, the alleged terrorist plot was still "months" away from any attack.
"The issue is that when there are people who are engaged in very bad action, we make sure that our security forces are on top of that and are taking action before any serious damage is done," Harper said.

Quotes of Prime Minister Stephen Harper:
1)Prime Minister Stephen Harper said of Mr. Babcock and his compatriots: “They paid dearly for the freedom that we and our children enjoy every day. Now they are all gone. However, their voices and stories live on. They live on in our commitment to never forget, to cherish their values they fought for and to remember their sacrifices.”
2)Prime Minister Stephen Harper saluted Babcock Thursday, paying tribute to “Canada’s last living link to the Great War, which in so many ways marked our coming of age as a nation". He said 650,000 men and women served in the Canadian forces during WWI
3)"The passing of Mr. Babcock marks the end of an era," Prime Minister Stephen Harper said in a statement. "His family mourns the passing of a great man. Canada mourns the passing of the generation that asserted our independence on the world stage and established our international reputation as an unwavering champion of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law."
Quotes Of Canadian Minister Of Citizenship, Immigration And Multiculturalism Hon. Jason Kenney(2009):
1)When you become a citizen, you're not just getting a travel document into Hotel Canada.
2)I think it's scandalous that someone could become a Canadian not knowing what the poppy represents, or never having heard of Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele, Dieppe or Juno Beach.
3)We mention freedom of conscience and freedom of religion as important rights but we also make it very clear that our laws prohibit barbaric cultural practices, they will not be tolerated, whether or not someone claims that such practices are protected by reference to religion.
4)I think we need to reclaim a deeper sense of citizenship, a sense of shared obligations to one another, to our past, as well as to the future, a kind of civic nationalism where people understand the institutions, values and symbols that are rooted in our history.
5)New Canadians are naturally conservative in the way they live their lives: they are entrepreneurial; they have a remarkable work ethic; they are an aspirational class; they want stability; they are intolerant of crime and disorder; they have a profound devotion to family and tradition, including institutions of faith; that whole spectrum of values is conservative.
